i like getting mail from people!! when an email notification pops up i get excited, way more than i do for anything from my socials. i've tried to work out why and i honestly can't. it's literally the same notification pop-up as all the others.
i think it's because a text takes half a second and an email means someone sat down and wrote the whole thing. to me!! with a subject line and everything.
and nobody's performing in an inbox. there's no algorithm deciding who gets to talk to me and no typing bubbles, and nobody expects a reply in 4 seconds. it's just a person and some words, and i get to be curious about the subject line before i even open it.
also i'm bad at replying to dms and then feel guilty about it for days, and that doesn't happen with email. you write, i write back when i have something to say, nobody's timing me.
so yeah, send me something!! if you do i will probably smile at my phone, and then i will write back, probably too long, probably with way too many exclamation marks.
